PERSONALITY
At first glance, Mitama is a sunshine incarnate: peppy, energetic and always smiling, there's never a dull moment with the Coordinator. She's the kind of girl who marches to the beat of her own drum, coming up with various game and party ideas, and dragging everyone else into fun, too ─ whether they like it or not. That merry-go-lucky attitude may make some think she's a bit of an airhead, but make no mistake ─ Mitama is an intelligent, perceptive young woman and she will use that to her advantage. She has a bit of a mischievous streak to her, and she enjoys teasing her fellow magical girls and getting them in all sorts of hilarious trouble for her own amusement, something that causes some of her clients to refer to her (lovingly, but still) as "the devil" and question the purity of her intentions when she offers them something (and usually, rightfully so).

Despite her playful and somewhat immature behavior, Mitama takes her responsibilities as the Coordinator very seriously, and supports all her clients with everything she's got. She's hard-working and fully committed to her role, quickly becoming something of a big sister or even a motherly figure to all other magical girls in the city. She helps them not just with her powers, but often offers them helpful insight and advice, her shop serving as a refuge for those with nowhere else to go when facing problems, whether personal or magical. Mitama will always happily listen to their woes, invite to share some snacks and overall take care of them like they're her little sisters. Speaking of whom, Mitama absolutely adores her actual little sister, Mikage, and will go to any lengths necessary to protect her; in fact, some might argue she's a bit overprotective, going as far as monitoring her relationships and policing where and when she can go to hang out with her friends. She means well, of course, and although she can be overbearing at times, she genuinely wants for her sister to be happy and safe more than anything.

Beneath all that friendly and cheerful exterior, however, Mitama hides tons of anger and resentment. Her experiences with people putting her on the pedestal, only to turn their backs on her when she stumbled, have left her extremely jaded towards human nature, and she's not quick to trust anyone with her real feelings, instead opting to adapt a perpetually perky persona. Because of that, many other magical girls comment that they have no idea what's really going on inside her head, and that they never know whether she's serious or not. While she rarely, if ever, shows those emotions outwardly, she holds a grudge against those who had wronged her, harboring strong feelings of hatred towards Kamihama City as a whole. She never talks about her past, chalking it up to wanting to be "mysterious", but at the same time, she displays a rather carefree attitude towards people finding out about what's happened to her. The reason for that is, she's long since accepted people will judge her based on their own beliefs and perceptions, and as such sees no reason to try and change their minds. Similarly, she's adapted a rather laid-back approach to her studies: in contrast to her past commitment to being on top of the class, she gave up on pursuing success there and barely shows up at school, instead pouring all her time into her work as the Coordinator. When faced with her past coming back to haunt her, however, she quickly regresses to being confrontational and resentful; it's not a common occurrence, but can be seen when confronted by a girl involved in the accident that got her expelled, as well as when observing the rising tensions between the East and the West during the elections.

Although her chipper and lively persona started out mostly as a facade, that is not to say it is entirely fake; over her time as the Coordinator, she's come to genuinely care for and love the magical girls of Kamihama, to the point where she was willing to put her grudge against the city and its people aside and fight to protect it alongside them. She's grateful to have gained the supportive friends who, even if they don't always understand her, are willing to put her faith in and stick up for her, as well as accept her for who she is. The fact that she finally has people who believe in her and don't cast their judgment on her even after they find out about her past is very important to her, and although her methods might be unorthodox at times, she truly enjoys her time with and wants the best for all of them.
BACKGROUND
FAMILY

Mikage Yakumo, little sister;
Mitama's precious sibling, she loves her dearly and wants to protect her no matter what
Magia Record takes place in Kamihama City, where a deeply-rooted conflict between the West and the East parts of the city causes the people living in the latter to be discriminated and looked down upon, to the point where the East part of the city is clearly less developed and poorer than the rest. Mitama was born and raised in Daito Ward, which is in the East part of Kamihama, but that never stopped her from wanting to become something more; she's poured her heart and soul into becoming a model student, achieving perfect results in both academics and sports, until finally she managed to enroll into the prestigious Mizuna Private Girls School situated in the West part of the city. With that, she became something of a symbol, especially to her peers, who saw her as a shining beacon proving that they all can succeed, no matter where they come from. And so, Mitama changed schools, shouldering the hopes and dreams of not just herself, but many people of Daito Ward as well.

Unfortunately, some people didn't take kindly to a girl from the East being allowed to attend a school of such renown; one of the students felt so jealous of the achievements of someone she considered to be a second-class citizen by default that she decided to push Mitama off the stairs in retaliation. Fortunately, Mitama managed to realize what was happening and avoided the attack ─ however, in doing so, she accidentally bumped into another girl, sending her down the stairs. On top of that, the victim of the incident happened to be a student with grades better than Mitama herself, so it was quickly decided she must have done it on purpose out of spite. No one would listen to Mitama's side of the story and she was promptly expelled, her dreams and ambitions crumbling to dust.

Sadly, her return to Daito brought her no relief; quite the opposite, actually, as people of the ward, and especially her peers from school actively blamed Mitama for putting the East in bad light, and by extension ruining their chances at success. Mitama tried to explain herself, but once again, no one cared to hear the truth, and she became the object of mean gossips, ridicule and harassment. The girl tried her best to endure it, but eventually the bullying extended even to her beloved little sister, causing Mitama to snap and nearly violently retaliate against her classmates, only to be stopped by Kanagi Izumi, a fellow Daito student who didn't participate in her harassment.

It was around that time, at the moment of her greatest vulnerability, when she was venting her frustrations alone that Mitama was approached by Kyubey ─ a mysterious creature that offered to make a wish of hers come true in return for becoming a magical girl. Thinking she must have finally lost her mind and convinced she's hallucinating, Mitama, overcome with anger and resentment, made her wish:

"I wish to become the one who destroys Kamihama City!"

Predictably, things did not get any better for her afterward ─ as a magical girl, Mitama was expected to fight against Witches that cause numerous misfortunes and catastrophes, but as it turned out, her magical abilities were rather useless in a fight, which left her future and survival uncertain. Fortunately, she came across Livia Medeiros, another magical girl who helped her realize the potential of her magic and taught her how to adjust the powers of other girls. With that, Mitama became the Coordinator of Kamihama City, helping other magical girls with strengthening and stabilizing their magic in return for Grief Seeds necessary for the survival of every magical girl.

About a year later, Kamihama became a stage for a fight between the Wings of Magius, a group of magical girls seeking to free their kind from the danger of becoming Witches by the implementation of the Doppel system, and a group of Kamihama girls opposing them, as they were against sacrificing innocent lives for their sake. Following the principles imparted to her by her teacher, Mitama remained neutral in the conflict, supporting both sides with her abilities without bias despite being aware of both the cruel fate of magical girls that would eventually turn into Witches and Magius' plan to kill humans in order to succeed in changing that fate. Eventually, however, she could no longer stand by as the girls she's grown to love and care for them as the Coordinator were risking their lives, and she joined them in the final battle, helping them overcome the powerful Witch called Walpurgisnacht that was summoned by the Magius.

Some time later, the girls of Kamihama formed Kamihama Magia Union in hopes of resolving any issues and working together to avoid further fights between magical girls. At that point, Mitama returned more or less to her neutrality stance, not joining the Union but helping them in return for her usual fees. However, a new conflict arose, with several new groups of taking stage: Promised Blood, a group of magical girls from a different city who banded together in order to take the Doppel system away from Kamihama and apply it to themselves; Neo-Magius, the remnants of the original Wings of Magius seeking to fulfill their original role despite the loss of their leaders; Tokime Clan, consisting of girls who had been groomed to become magical girls in exchange for wishes that benefitted political and business elites; and finally, Folklore of Zero, a small group of girls who had infiltrated other groups in order to monitor them and decide whether or not to enact their plan to erase all magical girls. Additionally, Kyubey arranged for a small group of Coordinators called Puella Care to ensure that all parties have equal access to adjustment services; among them was Mitama's teacher, who chastised her for breaking their rules of neutrality. Following that, Mitama distanced herself from the power struggle for the most part (and even tried to keep her sister away from befriending Union members to ensure her safety), supporting her clients as needed but otherwise staying out of the conflict. Instead, she became involved in the upcoming elections, helping out at the campaign office of the Daito Ward candidate. During the campaign, the old differences between the East and the West resurfaced, and tensions kept rising until it culminated in someone in the crowd throwing rocks at people during a rally of the Eastern candidate. Things only spiraled further from there, causing the East vs the West mentality to return in full force, with people on both sides quickly becoming more and more aggressive towards each other. Mitama, along with some other magical girls, conducts a private investigation into the incident that started it all, only to discover it was all a setup aiming to make the people of Eastern Kamihama look bad in the eyes of the public. Already feeling overwhelmed from finding out her people were once again to become the object of hatred and ridicule, Mitama witnessed a couple of Western kids bullying her sister, even going as far as throwing rocks at her. Even though Mikage was quick to reassure Mitama that she's fine and it's not a big deal, by that point Mitama had reached her limit and she completely broke down, blaming her wish for being the source of all of Kamihama's trouble. The other magical girls tried to console her, but to no avail, and she was left distraught and fearing for what the future would bring.

That's when Mitama made her decision to, once again, break her promise of remaining neutral. In her desperation, instead of making futile attempts to save the city from impending ruin, all of which she believed to be her fault, she decided to embrace it ─ to erase all of Kamihama once and for all, along with all the pain and suffering it's been causing to its people for centuries, and start completely over. In order to achieve that goal, she joined the Neo-Magius, who preached the idea of creating the world where the existence of magical girls become public knowledge and they rule over humans as their saviors. Under that system, people would revere magical girls and follow their lead, and in return, the girls would protect them from the curses of the Witches, while the Doppel system only extends to those who swear loyalty to Neo-Magius leaders. While other groups put their differences aside in an effort to extending the Doppel system to the whole world, Neo-Magius, Mitama included, intervened in their efforts and stealing half of the Kimochi stones necessary to implement the system from them, with Mitama taking the Turquoise Ear bracelet for herself and declaring her new alignment to everyone else, much to their shock.

While working under the Neo-Magius, Mitama was kept in the dark regarding the specifics of the true nature of the plan their leader, Himena, had in store, with the latter revealing to Livia that she believed if Mitama were to find out the details, she would leave the group. Mitama didn't ask any questions, however, believing that her wish is bound to bring destruction to Kamihama one way or another, and accepting that's the only possible course of action, even if that meant fighting against her friends. Himena eventually succeeded in moving forward with her plan, using other girls' abilities to influence all people in Kamihama and essentially brainwash them into being unable to eat or drink, intending to let the horror and panic of the situation to set in before revealing the existence of magical girls to the world and promising salvation to anyone who recognizes their superiority ─ while leaving those who deny them to die. Both Mitama and Kanagi allow this to happen, and when the Kimochi in Kanagi's possession, the Garnet Pinky, begins to go haywire due to the amount of its corresponding emotion (grief) in the girl, Mitama intervenes by adjusting both of their Soul Gems, creating the Eternal Darkness forms where they both fully embrace their feelings of despair.
ABILITIES
MAGICAL GIRL SKILLS
As a magical girl, Mitama possesses strength, speed and endurance enhanced far beyond what a human body is capable of; all that is to enable her to fight against the Witches. All magical girls receive multiple powers, including the ability to recover from any wound (as long as they have enough magical energy to spare; the speed of recovery depends on each girl's specific abilities), as well as the ability to sense and track the traces of magic of both Witches and other magical girls. Additionally, they also develop an ability to speak telepathically with others within a certain range. They're also capable of producing endless copies of their weapon of choice (in Mitama's case, her default one is a piece of silk cloth), as long as they have the necessary magical energy available.

Upon forming the contract, Mitama's soul was extracted from her body and is currently residing in a small, egg-shaped jewel referred to as Soul Gem, which becomes the source of a magical girl's powers and is usually worn in the form of a ring on her finger when not transformed. Because the body no longer hosts her soul, it becomes far more resistant to pain in order to make her more efficient at fighting, but applying pressure to the Soul Gem itself will be an extremely painful experience. In fact, the Soul Gem being damaged is far more dangerous than harming a girl's body, and breaking it will result in her instant death. Additionally, the Soul Gem must always remain within a close radius of the owner, as the girl's soul is essentially "possessing" her body as a vessel and once her soul is further than 100 meters away, her body will become an empty shell, effectively making it "dead"; in case that happens, the Soul Gem has to be returned to its owners body within 48 hours before the latter begins to decay. As they continue to use their powers, the Soul Gem begins to slowly darken with impurities (experiencing feelings of distress and other negative emotions has a similar effect) and need to be periodically purified using items called Grief Seeds, which are collected from the defeated Witches. However, should a girl fail to purify her Soul Gem for long enough, she herself turns into a Witch. The process is irreversible, and the most that can be done is put the transformed girl out of her misery.
PERSONAL MAGIC
Mitama's personal magic is unique in that it allows her to unlock latent potential and strengthen the magical powers of other people. She achieves it by performing "adjustment" on other girls' Soul Gems ─ ergo their souls ─ and directly influencing them with her magic in other to make the recipient more powerful or allow them to use their abilities with greater ease. There is a certain side effect to the process: while adjusting, Mitama is shown some of the memories of her client. This is not an ability she can control, and thus does so involuntarily; as such, she usually keeps whatever she sees to herself. It is revealed at one point that the power to adjust other people's souls isn't the intended use of her powers: as her wish was born from despair rather than hope, her magic doesn't affect Witches in any meaningful way; instead, her real personal magic allows her to harm and tamper with other people's souls; meanwhile, the ability to adjust other abilities comes from her deliberately doing the opposite of what it's meant to do, which requires using more magical energy than it would if used in an intended way. Additionally, she's capable of procuring a variety of items that help other girls in battles (such as potions that restore stamina) and sells them in exchange for Grief Seeds.

While originally her powers weren't meant for combat, Mitama has found a way to apply them in a fight, too ─ using a piece of cloth enchanted with her magic, she can weaken her opponents and inflict various negative effects on them, such as stunning or poisoning them; she herself describes it as "intentionally failing her usual procedure". While she's not strong enough to take on a Witch by herself, it still allows her to fight lesser enemies and makes her a valuable support. It also proves to make her a dangerous opponent in fights between magical girls, as she's been shown to use her abilities to directly influence their Soul Gems and render them unable to move (and, by extension, fight back).

Mitama can also use her adjustment abilities to slightly alter the abilities (and in case of magical girls, even the appearance and weapons) of a person as needed, which is how she creates costumes with alternative skills for her clients and herself. So far, she has created three forms for herself: Haregi version, Mermaid version and Eternal Darkness version. While she uses different weapons to channel her magic with those (karuta cards, an oyster, and a lantern, respectively), her abilities remain largely the same, focusing on various debuffs to enemies and occasional buffs to allies with limited damage, and the differences are mostly gameplay-related.
DOPPEL / WITCH / KIMOCHI
During the events of Magia Record, a special self-purification system is created for magical girls' Soul Gems in order to prevent them from becoming Witches; that system, called the Doppel system, involves the girl's Witch form (called Doppel in this case) being temporarily released, albeit under the girl's control, allowing her to use the Doppel's powers in a fight and, upon the Doppel's disappearance, completely cleaning the impurities of her Soul Gem. The in-game description of Mitama's Doppel, Totentanz, is as follows:

"The Doppel of Memento Mori. Its form is flower petals. The master of this Doppel resents her environment and wishes to destroy everything. Her Doppel never forgets that death comes to all things equally. It covers everything with dancing flower petals and escorts girls elegantly with its white gloves. Like its master, it isn't able to attack directly, but its power, which is connected to the end of all things, is utterly terrifying - the magic of anything hidden under its flower petals rots away to nothing. The more the master relies on this Doppel, the closer her left arm will get to becoming completely one with it."

Notably, the Doppel system is only available in Kamihama City at Mitama's current canon point, and even beyond that, it is limited to this one specific timeline (as opposed to all other timelines of the PMMM universe), and as such will be unavailable for Mitama to take advantage unless it is established in-game. As such, should she fail to purify her Soul Gem in time, she would turn into a Witch, becoming similar to her Doppel but more powerful and more exaggerated.

Finally, at this specific canon point, Mitama owns one of the Kimochi stones, Turquoise Ear. When in the form of a bracelet, the Kimochi stone cannot be removed from the person or transferred to someone else, unless it is given willingly to a person the current owner trusts with their life. If the person wearing the bracelet experiences strong emotions or finds themselves in the state of heightened stress, the Kimochi might lend its powers to its owner by taking the form of an armor-like piece of clothing on the corresponding body part, greatly enhancing the wearer's strength and magic; at the same time, it can be dangerous to the user in case they rely on this power for too long and run out of magical energy.
PERMISSIONS
▷ IC permissions
▶ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Mitama loves getting into other people's personal spaces, hugs, holding hands, all the physical affection! She'll welcome it, and in fact is likely to be the one to initiate it.
▶ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: She's not much of a fighter compared to other magical girls, so she prefers to avoid violence unless absolutely necessary, but she can hold her own, so I'm up for it.
▶ RELATIONSHIPS: Mitama can be a bit of a flirt, but anything serious would require some time and development, because she's not one to trust others easily. That said, I'm open to anything!
▶ PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: While Mitama can speak telephatically with others, she cannot actually read minds or anything of the sort; it's more of a conversation, just without voicing it. She doesn't have any specific defenses against mind reading, either, so if your character can do that, feel free to do so and contact me so I can tell you the details!
▶ MAGICAL INFORMATION: She's a magical girl, so obviously this is very relevant to her! It's possible for others to sense her magic, and she can do the same as well. The abilities section covers the details of her skills if you're interested!
▶ MEDICAL INFORMATION: While she appears to be a perfectly healthy, fit teenage girl... her soul is not actually inside her body, but rather in a gem she typically carries around as a ring on her finger. She can recover from most wounds thanks to magic, too (see: abilites section).
▶ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Nothing in particular! Prejudice and discrimination might be touchy subjects for her, but she'll fake-smile her way through it if necessary.

▷ OOC permissions
▶ BACKTAGGING: Yes please! I'm a slowpoke myself.
▶ THREADHOPPING: Mostly okay for network posts if applicable, but please check in with both sides beforehand!
